What are your business resolutions for the new year?

Gavin Chase
General manager, CNA International
“Working with our franchise partners, our ongoing commitment is to deliver a remarkable recruitment experience to clients. I have no doubt that 2009 will be a tough year for many recruitment agencies. However, I believe that CNA Executive Search is in a strong position due to our expertise working as headhunters across niche markets where the war for top talent has never been more intense. This year our resolution is to continue to work hard supporting our franchise partners through development and training programmes, so that they in turn can provide clients with a value-added service not usually associated with recruiters!”

David Leyshon
Managing director, CBSbutler
“Given the uncertain climate, I think it’s important to have resolutions all the way through the year — not just symbolic ones because it’s January. However, my main one is to ensure that we affect the necessary changes and tactics to successfully counter any slowdown, while maintaining high staff morale. Also, it’s very easy in the current economic climate to cut back on recruiting and developing talent. However, those organisations that have the right people in place with the right skills will be the ones who will not only cope with current conditions but also really capitalise on any future recovery.”

Satnam Brar
Managing director, Maximus IT
“January can be a miserable month but we try to push the message that the new year means a fresh start and new opportunities. It’s important to make sure staff are motivated all year long as we all get the post summer holiday blues too. However, especially after a tough 2008, now is a great time to have a positive attitude, introduce new rewards and boost things like training, which will leave the team feeling upbeat and confident and fully prepared for the year ahead.”
