Shipping recruitment enters choppy waters
The shipping recruitment sector is starting to experience the impact of the recession, according to shipping recruiters.
Stephen Cox, managing director at global shipping recruiter Spinnaker, told Recruiter: “We are starting to see it. We are doing business around the world and the downturn appears to be global. We have got technical, commercial and professional services. There is a massive shortage in technical, for maintenance shipping staff. We are noticing it in commercial.”
Hayley Fisk, a consultant at shipping and logistics recruiter Alchemy, adds: “We are having a worse year than last year. The current climate is affecting everyone.”
