Search is on for Olympic volunteers
London 2012 needs 70,000 volunteers with “dedication, focus, grace under pressure and adaptability”, according to a spokesperson for the games.
From the end of the month, the London 2012 Organising Committee starts recruiting the volunteers known as ’Games Makers’ in roles ranging from spectator assistants, uniform distributors and ticket checkers.
The seven-week campaign is promoted in social media, outdoor advertising, as well as being supported by a dedicated volunteer section of the London 2012 website, in-store by McDonalds, who will provide customer service training to the volunteers, and the The Life-Time UK Alliance which brings together a number of key volunteering agencies.
The spokesperson told Recruiter: “The successful Games Makers will offer a set of qualities that are demonstrated by the world’s best athletes at an Olympic and Paralympic Games - dedication, focus, grace under pressure, adaptability, responsibility and pride in their endeavours.”
