Santander creates new roles in the UK

Santander is to create 600 jobs in the UK following a rise in its profits during the first half of the year.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the bank said it would create the new roles amid reports that it is close to completing a deal for 318 branches from the Royal Bank of Scotland.

The news was welcomed by the unions. Nigel Cotgrove, national official at the CWU, told The Telegraph: “The news that Santander is to create 600 new jobs in the UK is a welcome boost for CWU members and the UK banking sector as a whole.”
