Alim Dhanji will take up office on 1 May as global head of recruitment and managing director at international financial conglomerate Citigroup.

Dhanji was previously in the role of senior HR executive at TD Bank, and before this held the dual roles of global head of HR (tax) and global head of resourcing at professional services firm KPMG International.

At KPMG he was responsible for acquiring over 50,000 professionals a year across 150 countries.

He has also held senior HR roles at banks BMO Financial Group and at Scotiabank, where he was based in Hong Kong and had responsibility across the Asia Pacific and Middle East area. Initially based in Toronto with Citi, he will move to either New York or London later in the year.

Citi had 266,000 full-time employees as of the end of 2011, and operates in more than 160 countries and territories worldwide.
