Get LinkedIn with its positives

Recruitment directors shouldn’t be concerned about the ‘three degrees of separation restriction’ set up by LinkedIn (Recruiter, p6, 6 August). The key to making LinkedIn work more effectively is a deep understanding of how to use it — including how to use it for free — which comes from the ‘grunt-work’ of personal experience or from training by an expert. Once that investment has been made, LinkedIn can become a money-making machine for your business, irrespective of restrictions.

Don’t head for an IT burn and breakdown

With regard to your article ‘Heading for a breakdown?’ (Recruiter, 17 September), an interesting and informative article.

I work for DQM group and we solve exactly these kinds of IT problems. Among other things, tracking candidate and client lists so that in the event of data theft, misuse can be indicated and provide some assistance with legal proceedings.

We’re all for girl-power, but…

I read with interest in People moves (Recruiter, 17 September) about the expansion of Fresh Recruit’s all-girl team. Tell me: would the expansion of an all-boy team be celebrated with equal verve and positive connotations? Moreover, since I assume Fresh Recruits is an equal opportunity employer, how does it get round the Sex Discrimination Act, the Race Relations Act and the Disability Discrimination Act? An answer to this question would prove fascinating reading.
