IT RECRUITMENT
Women attempting to enter the IT industry are being put off at the first hurdle, according to research by The Training Camp.
The survey found that 67% of respondents felt it is more difficult getting into the industry as a woman than it is progressing up through the ranks. Once there, 52% said they felt they could move up the career ladder quickly compared to other industry sectors.
Rob Chapman, chief executive of The Training Camp, says: “Despite multiple initiatives being put in place, the IT industry is failing to attract women into the sector and yet it offers enormous opportunity to those that make it when compared to other professions.
“As an industry, it’s vital we don’t patronise women but we need to think what can be done to make it easier for them to break in to the sector.”
