Immigration blog launched

Recruitment agencies dealing with overseas candidates who want to work in the UK can tap into key issues at a new blogsite launched by immigration experts, the Smooth Group.

Marketing manager Jen Monro, who has been helping to get the site up and running, told Recruiter that although the blog aims to provide information and advice for its customers, she expects recruiters to use and take part in it.

"Immigration is a complicated area and there are few blogs covering the issues at a time of considerable change in the legislation, much of which affects recruiters," she said.

"We want the blog to become the voice of the community and a virtual meeting place. Social networking has really exploded and a blog provides a great way to connect with customers and get direct messages across. It will also be used for cross-country communication for our offices in different time-zones," she says.

As well as the blog, the Smooth Group, part of global staffing specialists Charterhouse International, has an area on the social networking site Facebook and business networking site LinkedIn.

Monro believes this will help extend discussions to an even broader global community. "We have a lot of plans for the site such as featuring podcasts and video, and also want to encourage guest bloggers to provide a different angle.

"We would be very happy if one of these was a recruiter. If a recruiter has a question they can also post it on the blog."
