Police recruit first pawfficer in the US – we’re not kitten-ing

A police department in Michigan in the US has a furry new recruit.

The Metro reports the Troy Police Department has recruited a rescue kitten as its first official ‘pawfficer’.

The 14-week-old kitten was rescued from Michigan Humane Society and officially sworn into the force by judges Kirsten Nielsen Hartig and Maureen McGinnis in May.

Since her appointment, pawfficer Donut has been instrumental in helping her new colleagues bring attention to community issues, such as drink driving, on the station’s social media channels.

Paw-sumably, she gets the message across that drink driving is not miaowed and isn’t claw-ver [enough cat puns – Ed].
