The sector’s representative is hammer thrower Chris Bennett, who works as a recruitment associate at the Glasgow office of FPSG Professional Recruitment.

Bennett’s employment at the agency came as a result of the agency’s sponsorship of Scottish Athletics, according to a spokesperson for FPSG.

The spokesperson told Recruiter part of FPSG’s work with Scottish Athletics involves finding employment for athletes.

One of those athletes was Bennett, who was seeking a commercial role. The agency put him to work on conducting analysis and reaching out to its customers ahead of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into force.

According to the spokesperson, the agency is very proud of Bennett, adding he is a real gold medal contender in the hammer throw, which takes place this coming Sunday.

“We always knew the Gold Coast was high on his list, so taking time out to hopefully win a gold medal for the Scotland team was always going to be a priority…

“When he comes back we’ll see where it goes – whether he comes back to working with us or how he wants the balance to work.”
