Lookie-likie recruitment agency back on screens this year

A TV show about a recruitment agency that places lookalikes is set to return to UK screens this spring, according to Ricky Gervais lookalike Tim Oliver.

In a LinkedIn post this morning Oliver (above left) revealed that Lookalikes, a fly on the wall series first broadcast in 2015, that follows the ups and downs of the management and clients of a UK lookalikes agency run by David Beckham impersonator Andy Harmer, will return to UK screens on Channel 4 soon, while entertainment streaming service Netflix has launched Season 1 in the US, Canada, Denmark and Belgium.

Explaining the concept of the show, Oliver told Recruiter it is about a lookalike agency, based in Eastbourne, and charts the struggle of professional lookalikes to secure bookings.

While Oliver adds he breaks away from Harmer’s agency in season 1, he remains one of the main characters in the show, adding his favourite scene involved a lookalike of Robbie Williams.

“I was auditioning people for the lookalike agency and I had someone impersonating David Brent – he is actually a Robbie Williams parody. He looks a bit like Robbie Williams but he’s really large, chubby and he calls himself Blobby Williams. We had a bit of an argument and had a dance off in the car park. I did the famous David Brent dance. That was my favourite scene… There are lots of memorable scenes in it.”

But Oliver also revealed with the show returning to UK screens on Channel 4 this spring, viewers can expect an even more cringe-worthy show.

“Season 2 is more cringy than season 1. There’s a few more lively characters in season 2 as well and a few more unbelievable situations we get ourselves into.”
