Pirates’ Goldsmith arrested and charged with assault

One of recruitment’s most colourful characters, Gary Goldsmith, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 31 October to answer a charge of assault by beating following an incident in London last Friday.

Quoting a taxi driver who had summoned police to Goldsmith’s Wimpole Street home in the early hours of Friday, media reports over the weekend alleged the flamboyant millionaire had struck his wife Julie-Ann following a night out, causing her to fall to the pavement. She was subsequently taken to hospital where she was treated for injuries and later released.
