Police given more time to quiz suspects in human trafficking investigation

Detectives carrying out an investigation into suspected human trafficking have been given more time to question six people arrested earlier this week.

In a statement released this morning, the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) revealed magistrates have granted officers from Derbyshire Police an extension to question the three men and three women arrested during a joint operation involving the GLAA earlier this week.

Police officers executed warrants at five houses in Derby in the early hours of Tuesday morning, discovering a number of potential victims.

Ten men believed to have been trafficked into the UK from Latvia continue to be supported by partner agencies.

Enquiries are ongoing.
