High-street names to create over 1,000 jobs

AS Watson – the group behind high-street chains Superdrug, Savers and The Perfume Shop – is planning to create more than 1,000 jobs across the UK.

The BBC reports Superdrug will open 30 new stores and create 650 new jobs, while its discount stable-mate Savers will open another 45 shops creating 450 new jobs.

The Perfume Shop is also set to increase its number of stores to 17, creating 78 new roles.

Best Connection Group refutes reports it appealed against underpayment obligation

The Best Connection Group has refuted reports it appealed against a fine for the underpayment of workers it supplied to sports retailer’s Sports Direct’s Shirebrook site. The company's appeal was actually against multiple penalties meted out by HM Revenue & Customs for failing to pay the national minimum wage, and not the fine itself, the company has said.
