Firms urged to commit to employing 12% more older workers
The government’s business champion for older workers Andy Briggs has called on UK firms to publicly commit to employing 12% more older workers by 2022.
Briggs, who previously set a UK target in February for employers to recruit 1m more older workers by 2022, is also calling on firms to publish the number and percentage of older workers in their workforce by the end of this year.
The first employers to rise to Briggs’ challenge include Aviva, Atos, Barclays, The Co-operative Group, Home Instead Senior Care, the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), Mercer and Walgreens Boots Alliance.
Briggs is also CEO of Aviva UK Life and chair of UK charity Business in the Community’s age at work leadership team.
