Employers should be forced to provide feedback says campaign

A campaign lobbying government for new rules requiring employers to give candidate feedback post interview has been “extremely well received”.

This is according to Charlie Taylor (shown above, speaking at a Women in Tech event), founder and CEO of Debut, a student and graduate careers App behind the #FightForFeedback campaign. The campaign has already received backing from global employers, including 02, Fujitsu, Network Rail, the FDM Group and Capgemini and is supported by a national petition and a white paper submitted to government.

The campaign, launched in light of Debut research, revealing four out of five candidates who previously attended a face-to-face interview did not received feedback from the employer (83%), has been promoted across Twitter and also featured on BBC Breakfast News and Sky News this morning.

Commenting on the campaign, Taylor told Recruiter: “So far the campaign has been extremely well-received, and already we have the heavyweight HR stakeholders backing the campaign, including the Department for Work and Pensions, the Association of Graduate Recruiters and Professional HR body CIPD. Every few days we hear from another employer on the Debut platform, who wish to join the campaign.

“Small business owners have raised concerns about the lack of time to provide feedback, which is all good evidence and insight that will support our white paper, which will be submitted to government in the coming months.”
