Amazon creates 1,000 jobs in Manchester

Thu, 10 Mar 2016

Amazon is set to create 1,000 new jobs in Manchester, with the potential for 500 more at peak times.

The online retailer said the new jobs will be created over three years at a new fulfilment centre in the Wythenshawe district, to the South of the city, that is due to open in the autumn.

The firm will be recruiting operations managers, engineers and ‘associates’ who handle the orders, as well as people to fulfil roles in HR and IT.

The new jobs bring to 2,500 the number of jobs that the online giant has announced this year, and its UK workforce to 14,500.
