Warwick University job board fe.jobs.ac.uk has changed its name to college.jobs.ac.uk, following a legal challenge brought by FEjobs.com, owned by online teacher recruitment specialist Eteach Group.

An FEjobs.com statement says it had successfully mounted a legal campaign over the similarities of its name and the university’s recently launched fe.job.ac.uk, though did not provide details of  what legal action was taken.

A spokesperson for Warwick University told Recruiter in a statement while it could see no legal imperative to change the name of its site, it decided “not to waste a penny” of its resources on any challenge.

But Paul Howells, Eteach’s chief executive, thanked customers and colleges the organisation works with for bringing the matter to his attention, adding the situation could have easily led to confusion for users of FEjobs.com.

The Warwick University spokesperson added the university has taken the opportunity to change the name of the site to college.jobs.ac.uk to reflect even more clearly what its does – connecting jobseekers with opportunities at colleges across the UK.
