International executive search firm Proco Global has opened an office in Mexico City.

Gabriela Bautista has been brought on board to lead the office, which will cover recruitment into the automotive, aerospace, food & beverage and processing chemicals sectors. She will be supported by two consultants.

Bautista reports into Gerardo Suárez, managing director of the firm’s New York office.

Explaining the expansion, Proco Global group chief executive called the development an “organic” move.

He told Recruiter: “We are finding a lot of our clients in North America are shifting production and manufacturing into Mexico.

“It is a lower-cost option than the US. Although saying that, not by much any more,” he added.

“All of our clients are generally Fortune 500 global organisations who have a presence wherever we operate. We have done a lot of work in Mexico over the last couple of years out of New York and Vancouver, so it’s just a natural move for us.”
