The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) in Ghana has launched an investigation into the country’s immigration service after evidence came to light of a recruitment scam.

According to Ghana online news service StarrFMonline.com, an immigration service officer, allegedly took Ghc 2,500 (£4,859) from each 15 victims by promising them a job, a promise that he has yet to deliver on.

The issue has now escalated after victims complained to the officer’s bosses. One of the victims told StarrFMonline.com: ‘’He tells us they [his bosses] are also aware and that they do these things all the time and so we should keep waiting else they will replace us when the time comes but we are now tired and we want our monies back."
