The Freelancer & Contractor Services Association (FCSA) has partnered with the SAFERjobs campaign to help stamp out job scamming in its mission to promote jobseeker safety.

According to an FCSA statement, the average job scam cost jobseekers £4k in 2014 with the most vulnerable target group being the 18-25 age range.

The FCSA will share SAFERjobs’ advice with its members, freelancers and contractors, as well as recruiters.

In the same statement, SAFERjobs chairman Keith Rosser said job scams were not restricted to the recruitment industry, “they occur wherever there is a jobseeker and the promise of a job”.

He said job scams often involve online technology.
