Recruitment and training provider MiddletonMurray has today [13 April] opened a new Canterbury centre as part of an initiative with Kent County Council to tackle youth unemployment.

The agency has moved into the Canterbury Innovation Centre, based at the University of Kent, to work closely with employers, schools, graduates and unemployed youth.

From the centre, the recruiter plans to offer services to local jobseekers, apprenticeships, pre-employment training for 16 to 18-year-olds and pre-employment training to graduates. Its goal is to reduce youth unemployment in the region by 1,000.

The council initiative, Expansion East Kent programme, was launched in autumn 2012 and has so far created or safeguarded more than 2,900 jobs for young people.
