Recruitment group Kellan has announced executive chairman Tony Reeves (pictured) has stepped down with immediate effect, almost a month after it announced he would remain in post until a new chief executive was appointed.

Yesterday’s announcement [4 March] made no mention of a CEO appointment. It stated Richard Ward, CEO of recruiter Fusion People, has been appointed to the Kellan board as executive chairman.

Kellan’s chief operating officer Mark Darby, who joined the company in 2005, was also appointed to the board as a director.

Ward holds directorships at 12 companies including recruitment firms Clement May, Fusion People, Human Capital Resources, Resourcing Global Solutions and Secondsite Recruitment.

In January, Kellan announced Reeves’ intention to step down to “pursue other business interests”.

No one at Kellan was available to speak yesterday.
