Fri, 27 Mar 2015Wanted: Prostitute tester. Must have brothel experience, health certificate. University degree desirable.

Yes, that was an ad for an actual job – posted on German website kaufmich.com (buyme.com), a social media platform for sex workers, clients, brothels and associated businesses.

According to US broadcaster CNBC, the German social network is recruiting quality control testers, male and female, to check quality, cleanliness, safe sex practices and value for money in German brothels.

Bizarrely, the ad mentions that in addition to “many years” of experience in brothels and a clean bill of health, candidates with university degrees, particularly in business, would be preferred.

It also says a multilingual person would be desired, listing French as a particular advantage, and that the applicant “should enjoy having fun with people and you should not be afraid of contact”. (Surely that last point goes without saying?)

Kaufmich.com is part of an international group of companies with reportedly 120 workers across Germany, Spain and China, “offering realistic development and career opportunities”. The mind boggles…
