Manchester-based rail recruiter Morson International won a five-year contract to supply staff to Network Rail.

Morson will be the prime supplier of contingent labour for some of Network Rail’s main routes in the UK, including Scotland, London and North-West regions.

The deal is worth £100m and sees Morson join Network Rail’s group of core labour suppliers, of which, as Recruiter reported last week, RTC subsidiary Ganymede is also a supplier.

According to Network Rail, recruiters joining Morson and Ganymede in the core group are McGinley Support Services (Infrastructure) and Shorterm. The group is responsible for supplying 70% of the roughly 500 people needed per day.

Network Rail said in a statement the allocation of these contracts see a “strategic change” in the number of suppliers from 57 to 20.

The contracts are due to begin on 1 April.
