Thu, 26 Mar 2015Morrisons has appointed current HR director for retail & convenience Clare Grainger as retail director.

As part of a move to create a ‘leaner’ management board, the supermarket chain announced a number of changes this week [24 March].

The changes mean several directors will step down from the management board and leave the company. The directors are: group customer marketing & digital director Nick Collard; group property & strategy director Gordon Mowat; group logistics director Neal Austin; convenience managing director Nigel Robertson; and group retail director Martyn Fletcher.

Grainger, who Recruiter reported last month had taken a sideways move to HR director retail and convenience from HR director central, will replace Fletcher.

In a statement, Morrisons chief executive David Potts said: “I will now be constructing a leaner management board, with the aim of simplifying and speeding up the business. I would like to thank Nick, Martyn, Neil, Nigel and Gordon for their service to Morrisons.”

In response to Recruiter’s question, Morrisons did not reveal whether Grainger’s remit is to be expanded to also include her HR responsibilities, but according to her LinkedIn profile she is as of 25 March retail HR director.
