Royal Navy contract sustains and creates jobs for BAE Systems

The deal to upgrade the Royal Navy’s Spearfish heavyweight torpedoes will ensure manufacture at BAE Systems’ facility in Portsmouth for a further 10 years.

The Spearfish programme supports 60 jobs in Broad Oak, where the torpedo is designed and manufactured, with BAE Systems recruiting an additional 40 new skilled engineers to work on the programme.

The company estimates that hundreds of jobs will be sustained throughout its supply chain.
