Fri, 10 Oct 2014Self-employed contractors are more optimistic about job prospects as economic recovery gathers pace, according to research conducted by professional services consultancy Procorre.
The findings showed that 57% of self-employed contractors are optimistic about their work prospects for the year ahead. After a difficult 12 months, during which just a third (34%) found it ‘easy’ to obtain work, almost half (47%) of contractors are seeing economic activity in their sector increase.
In a press statement, Lisa Mangan, relationship manager at Procorre, said that some contractors had found opportunities “hard to come by” over the past year but most were feeling “buoyant about the outlook” over the next 12 months.
She added: “Project budgets were hit by the recession but as businesses start to increase spending contractors should reap the benefits. Businesses are dusting down and investing in projects that were previously put on hold until they were in a more economically secure position.”
