Recruitment firms have road tested a new paid internship scheme, which allows them to engage with young people while they are still at university.

The scheme, designed to help recruiters to position themselves as a long-term career of choice for top talent, was developed by the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) in conjunction with Step – a provider of internships.
Among the recruitment firms that have used the scheme for internal positions are GCS Recruitment, which specialises in technology, financial services and engineering, and Cranberry Panda, which places candidates in e-commerce, marketing, and technical and design jobs.

The internship scheme has been launched for recruiters in the UK and Asia.

For more, see September’s issue of Recruiter, out next week.
