A recruitment consultant who made £38k from selling cannabis, which he grew in a tent in his Bromley Cross home, has been ordered to sell his only asset and give the proceeds to police, The Bolton News has reported.

Christopher Higson, who had previously run a recruitment business aiming to recruit staff for a firm of medical negligence solicitors, was ordered by the Bolton Crown Court in a proceeds of crime hearing this week to sell a 4x4 vehicle he bought with the cannabis proceeds, or face jail.

The publication said police found 12 plants growing at his Grange Road house in July 2013 and the vehicle, valued at £3,878.43, was his only remaining asset.

He was given until 3 December to pay the money or face two months in prison.

As Recruiter previously reported, he pleaded guilty to producing cannabis, was sentenced to 100 hours unpaid work, and ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge earlier this year.

The Bolton News story said Higson now plans to restart another business he had, which involved civil engineering.
