9 Jul 2014Northamptonshire, where 47% of social workers are placed through agencies, is to get its own training academy after Ofsted criticised as "inadequate" its level of children's services, said the BBC.

The county, which is making "real progress" according to the latest independent review, is starting its own academy to recruit and train staff with a year's intensive training for new social workers.

The reliance on agency staff has been criticised in previous reports because they are less likely to have the experience of staff employed long-term by the council.
