The Australian government has launched a programme that offers more support for mature age jobseekers.

The Australian government has launched a programme that offers more support for mature age jobseekers.

The Restart programme provide a $10k (£5.5k) incentive to employers to hire and retain mature age jobseekers aged 50 and over who have been in receipt of income support for six months or more.

The Restart wage subsidy is paid in four six-monthly payments:

  • $3k after 6 months employment
  • $3k after 12 months employment
  • $2k after 18 months employment
  • $2k after 24 months employment.

Mature age jobseekers employed for at least 30 hours per week will attract the full rate of the Restart wage subsidy. Eligible jobseekers employed between 15-29 hours per week will attract a pro-rata Restart subsidy.
