Singapore: Job vacancies rise for a third consecutive quarter

Mon, 16 Jun 2014
Job vacancies continue to rise in Singapore, with growth being recorded for the third consecutive quarter, according to Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower’s labour market report for the first quarter of 2014.

However, the rate of increase over the quarter to March 2014 was 3%, slower than the 9.2% in December 2013 and 5.8% in September 2013.

Total employment in the country grew by 28,300, lower than the increase of 40,600 in the last quarter of 2013 but broadly comparable to the 28,900 in the first quarter of 2013. Overall, this brought total employment to 3,552,200 in March 2014, which was 4% higher than a year ago.
