Recruitment consultant’s bid for Miss Universe

Swimwear, evening gown modelling and an opening dance routine might not be the usual talents you associate with a recruitment consultant.

However, these are the specialities that recruitment consultant Leonna Sylvester put to the test last weekend (21 June) in a bid to be crowned the Miss Universe contestant for the UK.

Sylvester currently works as a recruitment consultant for Scottish social enterprise recruitment agency Right Recruitment, where she specialises in sourcing care assistants and support workers for care homes across Perth and North Fife.

She’s not new to the beauty pageant process, having entered the Miss Trinidad and Tobago UK in 2011/12, which she won.

She told Recruiter that she entered the Miss Universe GB competition as she felt it had “similar core values” to her own.

“My main aim of entering the competition was to show that a woman could have brains, as well as beauty, and not be afraid to show it.

“Due to having quite a laid back personality with a cheeky humorous side, it helped me take the competition in my stride and is always a bonus within the industry I work.”
Although she didn’t win the competition last weekend, she said it has “definitely given me the bug to do more pageants this year”.
