Meet Mungo Strachan, the Nearly Naked Recruiter

Despite how hot it’s been in recent days in London, not many commuters would go to work in their underwear – unless you’re headhunter Mungo Strachan, that is.
Fri, 13 Jun 2014 Despite how hot it’s been in recent days in London, not many commuters would go to work in their underwear – unless you’re headhunter Mungo Strachan, that is.

According to the London Evening Standard, former semi-professional rugby player Strachan decided to protest at the soaring temperatures on the London Underground by carrying his suit and wearing just a pair of boxer shorts on his commute.

He travels in on the District Line from Baron’s Court to Monument, where he is a senior consultant for specialist audit and compliance recruiter Apollo Solutions.

He told the Evening Standard: “The protest started this week when the heat on the tube really picked up. I’m a Scotsman so these temperatures for me are tropical.”

However, the real reason for his ‘barely there’ commute may be somewhat different. He told online news site London24: “A good friend of mine runs a boxer short company and gave me a rather fetching pair…”

Mungo decided to bare (almost) all to help out his friend Henry Philip, who launched
Henri James boxers just two weeks ago.

Publicity stunt or protest, it obviously hasn’t affected his work. When Recruiter rang to speak to him this morning, he was offsite with a client. And as one of his specialisms is in the risk market, we’d say that one has paid off.
