Twenty-eight full-time manufacturing jobs are to be created in Cambellfield Victoria state, with grants from an investment fund set up after Ford Australia announced it will cease local production in 2016.

Federal industry minister Ian Macfarlane said two grants totalling A$900k (£496k) from the Melbourne North Innovation and Investment Fund (MNIIF) would help manufacturers Kitchen Innovations and Premier Extrusion to expand operations.

The MNIIF is a A$24.5m package developed by the Victorian government with the Federal government and Ford Australia. The 10 MNIIF grants allocated so far are expected to create more than 470 full-time jobs.
