A new national nursing agency framework for the NHS and other public sector organisations has gone live, as of yesterday (14 May).

According to a statement from the NHS London Procurement Partnership (LPP), four NHS collaborative procurement hubs – NHS Commercial Solutions, NHS North of England Commercial Procurement Collaborative (NOE CPC), East of England NHS Collaborative Procurement Hub – agreed to actively develop a framework agreement: the National Framework Agreement for the Supply of Nursing and Nursing-related Staff.

The framework will run for an initial period of two years, plus two optional one-year extension periods. It is open to the NHS and other public bodies throughout the UK, the statement said.

Although a national framework, it consists of four regional lots to allow for differing market conditions in each region, and each lot will be open to the NHS and other public bodies in that particular region. In addition, lot five allows for the international recruitment of staff.

Alyson Brett, chief executive officer of NHS Commercial Solutions, said the framework includes a “transparent pricing mechanism”, along with regular auditing of agencies providing NHS staff.

Brett promised that the new framework would ensure a recruitment process which was “fully compliant with UK and EU legislation”.

Details of the new framework are now available on the NHS London Procurement Partnership website.
