‘The Experience’, an idea created by financial recruiter Goodman Masson to put people at the centre of the company’s growth agenda, has become a registered trademark, along with the phrase ‘There’s more to life than work’.

Guy Hayward, chief executive officer, tells Recruiter: “The Experience is the central pillar to how the company will evolve by offering a unique working environment, which challenges conventional wisdoms.

“The Experience is about placing our people at the centre of our growth agenda and creating an employee experience that people want to be part of and don’t want to leave,” says Hayward.

Goodman Masson’s position is that it is important employees are given the infrastructure and tools to professionally develop, and a working environment that they want to be part of.

The company offers staff a range of benefits, including language lessons, yoga classes, mortgage funds to car loans, beauty treatments, and a masseuse, which is says all fit in with the company’s approach to health and wellbeing.

According to the government’s Intellectual Property Office the benefits of a registered trademark are:

  • it may put people off using your trade mark without your permission
  • it makes it much easier for you to take legal action against anyone who uses your trademark without your permission
  • it allows Trading Standards Officers or police to bring criminal charges against counterfeiters if they use your trademark
  • it is your property, which means you can sell it, franchise it or let other people have a licence that allows them to use it.
