Tue, 5 Nov 2013Tech giant Apple and its supplier GT Advanced Technologies are creating 700 new jobs at a factory in Arizona.

GT says it has entered into a multi-year supply agreement with Apple to provide sapphire glass, which is used to cover the screen of Apple products, under which it employs the staff, and owns and operates equipment at a facility owned by Apple.

The facility in Mesa, Arizona’s third-largest city, was previously the manufacturing building of solar panel maker First Solar, and will return as a source of geothermal and solar power, according to a press note from the office of the Governor of Arizona.

The governor’s office adds that the new move will also produce around 1,300 construction and associated jobs in the state.
