Wed, 30 Oct 2013Jonathan Butterfield, the founder and former chief executive officer of AIM-listed recruitment firm Rethink Group, has taken on a role as an advisor to the board of Australian recruitment firm Talent International, with a remit to assist expansion globally.

Butterfield takes on the role to help build the technology recruiter’s business in both the UK and Europe.

He will work to “produce a blueprint for developing an extensive UK and European delivery capability over the next five years, as well as reviewing and developing a number of strategic acquisitions to assist our growth in these markets”, according to Talent International founder and managing director Richard Earl.

The company also plans to achieve “outright leadership” in IT recruitment in Australia and New Zealand in this period, as announced at last week’s annual conference.

Talent International currently has a London office in addition to a further 10 in the Asia-Pacific region: six in Australia, two in New Zealand plus Hong Kong and Singapore.

Butterfield has over 22 years’ experience in IT and recruitment, including time with Computer People before it was acquired by Adecco. He also helped establish Zebra Managed Resources and Best International Group, which were also both bought by Adecco subsidiary Spring Group.

Having founded the company in 2005, Butterfield stepped down from Rethink in January this year, but both parties agreed “to ensure a smooth transition” by retaining the firm’s founder in a consultancy role for 12 months.

According to its website, Talent International has annual turnover approaching AUS$300m (£218m).
