Thu, 1 Aug 2013Convenience is the biggest benefit of mobile technology to a jobseeker, according to a survey from financial and legal recruiter Sellick Partnership, which has also released data on mobile and tablet visitors to its own website.

The firm has seen a 92% increase year-on-year in the number of people accessing its website via mobile phones, and a 172% leap for tablet visitors.

Overall, 62% of almost 400 visitors responding to a survey on Sellick’s website said mobile technology had changed the way they search for jobs.

A major tenet of this is convenience, with 62% of respondents carrying out mobile searches while watching television and 47% while travelling on public transport, while some gender difference was noted with 19% of male respondents searching at the pub, and bed being the chosen location for 58% of women.

Overall, men tended towards job searching first thing in the morning while women preferred evenings.

The survey was carried out ahead of the launch of the firm’s mobile site in July, the same month that job site Monster.co.uk took the same step.
