Unconference events organiser #tru and US-based TalentNet Live have merged to form #globaltru.

The merger brings together #tru, founded by Bill Boorman in 2009 whose unconferences are less structured and formal than traditional conferences, and US-based #TalentNet Live founded by Craig Fisher, which organises podcasts, as well as discussions at recruitment conferences.

The third party in the merger is Aki Kakko, a Finnish entrepreneur, who runs Joberate, a company that publishes job ads on social media. Boorman tells Recruiter that Kakko is providing investment, as well as expertise on matters such as trademarks and copyright.

Boorman says the new company will allow expansion on a global scale, with the number of events rising from 100 this year to an expected 300 next year.
