Software firm Sage is looking to boost its workforce, while even further North, across the border, contact centre operator Webhelp TSC is set to hire for 400 new positions.

The company, which has its global headquarters in Newcastle, and has 2,500 employees in the UK and Ireland, is embarking on a recruitment drive after the successful launch of a new accounts and payroll product designed for start-ups and small businesses.

Guy Berruyer, chief executive officer of Sage, says: “We are continuing to grow our presence in Newcastle. It’s the centre for our business in the UK and our group worldwide headquarters, and we are recruiting now and are continuing to recruit.”

Webhelp TSC
The firm will hire 400 new people in Scotland over the next two years in Glasgow, Kilmarnock and Larbert.

The company, which employs 6,000 people across the UK, is also announcing its new Customer Experience Academy, through which job applicants are given five weeks of training and then supported onto a 12-month apprenticeship programme if successful.

Webhelp has benefitted from £1.5m from Scottish Development International.
