Medical devices firm Nypro is to create over 200 new jobs in Waterford, South-West Ireland, while US offshore services firm Bristow says it will bring 350 new jobs to the UK after winning a contract to operate search and rescue (SAR) helicopter services.

Bristow

According to an article in The Daily Telegraph, 115 of the jobs to be created after Bristow’s contract win will come at helicopter maker AgustaWestland, which will make new helicopters as part of the deal.

The other roles will see armed forces servicemen operating the existing SAR service having to re-apply to keep their jobs. The paper says Bristow “has pledged to interview military candidates wanting to remain in the field”.

Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, is not thought to be affected by the move as his tour of duty is due to end after the summer.

Nypro

The company will establish a new medical device manufacturing facility in Waterford, which will create 200 new jobs initially and more expected later.

Recruitment has begun for the roles, which will support the manufacturing of respiratory and injection devices for worldwide customers.
