Legal recruitment consultancy BCL Legal has opened an office on New Broad Street in the City of London, its first London office after 10 years operating outside of the capital.

BCL Legal managing director James Batt, who will be leading the office, says: “We’ve worked hard to build up our reputation across the UK but we always knew the ultimate goal would be to establish ourselves in London with a full-time office. Opening in London has never been a vanity project; it’s based on a real demand from our clients – both in the Central London and across the South-East.”

The firm also has offices in Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Reading.

Batt is joined by new hires Raj Sidhu, a managing associate, and manager Matthew Porter, who had previously worked for the company in Manchester, as well as three other existing BCL staff.

The company says the plan is for the new office to initially focus on interim and locum positions as well as document review roles, before growing a full private practice and in-house offering over the next year to 18 months.
