Online working is on the rise in Australia, according to a survey by online workplace oDesk.

A poll of 306 Australian businesses that had hired one or more online contractors recently found that 93% of respondents said that they will spend the same amount of time or more on online work this year, with two-thirds saying they will spend at least 50% more.

The survey found that cost savings, ability to flex and scale staff according to need and faster hiring were the key drivers for employers.

And 96% agreed that most businesses would have blended teams of online and on-site workers.
