As landfills get fuller, a specialist computer and IT waste recycling centre in Leeds says it is set to double its workforce and quadruple its turnover in 2013.

U Can Recycling founder and director-owner Rob Seal says: “In light of impending landfill diversion targets and the need to improve the UK’s environmental agenda, our nation is increasingly embracing the ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ philosophy.”

Seal launched the company as a sole trader entity two years ago, and it now employs 10 people – with the next 10 due to be helped into the business in part thanks to European Development funding.

He also says the community responsibility is at the core of the growing business, commenting: “We are passionate about recycling but at the same time we are much more than a commercial outfit. Part of our role is to educate people about recycling and create job opportunities for people in Leeds.

“Our aim is to become the largest and most ethical IT recycling company in Yorkshire, and I believe we are making positive steps to achieving this goal.”
