Northern Ireland teaching gets £26m boost for 230 jobs

Fri, 12 October

The Northern Irish First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness have announced a £26m funding package for the province’s schools, which includes creating posts for 230 recently-qualified teachers.

The two-year posts “will also have a direct impact on the educational outcomes of many pupils”, claims education minister John O’Dowd. He added that the project would in particular look to concentrate on “our most disadvantaged pupils”.
