Information and communications techology (ICT) firm Fujitsu UK & Ireland is to recruit 105 new apprentices in the next two months.

Under the main scheme taking on 95 apprentices, A-Level leavers will earn £14,500 a year as part of the ‘advanced’ stream, while those with GCSEs alone will earn £7,800 on the intermediate scheme, equating to 50% more than the new minimum wage for apprentices of £2.65 an hour. A separate scheme will see 10 apprentices join in Northern Ireland.
Apprentices will be based across the UK – but none in Ireland – in a variety of roles from customer services to software development, with the aim of providing all apprentices with a full-time role at the end of their programme.

The apprenticeship recruitment is supported by apprenticeship and training provider First4Skills and further training is provided by Telford College.

Rachel Rose, head of talent management at Fujitsu, says that “the calibre of applications this year has surpassed our expectations”.
