Global online employment solution company, Monster Worldwide, has reported Europe’s first decline in job posting activity since April 2010, falling 1% in August this year.
The index is compiled by surveying trends across a large number of corporate careers sites and job boards, including Monster.
Germany is the only large country that has experienced significant growth, rising 7%, continuing its consistent year-by-year growth. All other countries, not including the UK, have shown a year-by-year decline in growth, with the Netherlands and France registering double digits, declining by 16% and 13% respectively.
Environment, urbanism and architecture continue to lead all industries by measure of annual growth for the fourth consecutive month, while management and consulting have recorded the most significant decline, falling 6%.
Vice president of sales and readiness and business operations, Alan Townsend, has recognised Germany’s importance for catalysing job activity, saying: “Germany remains the growth driver of online recruitment across Europe, providing buoyancy to an otherwise muted labour market.”
